Tanorexia och statsmakten

Bekymmer: Tanorexia.

Västvärlden tar sitt ansvar - från CNN:

To help fund the $940 billion health care overhaul, a 10% tax on individuals receiving indoor tanning services was tacked on, and the initiative is expected to generate $2.7 billion over ten years.

Resultat - från Positive Liberty:

“So they’re going to tax tanning bed fees?” she said. “I don’t care. I get my tanning for free at the gym. It’s just part of the whole deal.” I think she may be right. I’ve read the provision, and I don’t see how she’d end up paying.

Behold the way of the future, tanning-tax lovers. You may have just made those terrible tanning beds free. And we all know how much people consume of free goods.

Även Iran tar självfallet sitt folkhälsoansvar - från Daily Telegraph:

Brig Hossien Sajedinia, Tehran's police chief, said a national crackdown on opposition sympathisers would be extended to women who have been deemed to be violating the spirit of Islamic laws. He said: "The public expects us to act firmly and swiftly if we see any social misbehaviour by women, and men, who defy our Islamic values. In some areas of north Tehran we can see many suntanned women and young girls who look like walking mannequins.

"We are not going to tolerate this situation and will first warn those found in this manner and then arrest and imprison them."
